Net Metering (Grid-Connected)

What happens when your system produces more electricity than you are using at your property? Simple: it is sent out to the energy company to power the grid. The energy flow is tracked meticulously by your bi-directional electrical meter. This process is commonly known as Net Metering.

  1. PV system powers your home. Any excess electricity is sent back to the energy retailer giving your feed in tariff credits in exchange.
  2. At night or when the sun isn’t providing enough power for your home’s needs, the home is powered by electricity drawn from the grid.
  3. At the end of each quarter, the homeowner is billed per kWh for grid usage minus the feed in tariff credits.
